On the 30th of February 1962, Lama Ngawang Zangpo was born in a remote place called Dolpo located near the Nepal-Tibet border. At an early age he was formally ordained into monk-hood and studied Buddhist philosophy. He received numerous empowerments from the His Holiness Dilgo Khentse Rinpoche. Ngawang also successfully completed for three Year, three months meditation successfully. By nature, Ngawang is an altruistic and compassionate man who is constitutionally helpful to others-- expecting nothing in return. Currently, he is a adviser to the Center. For his highly valued service, he asks for and receives no remuneration.

Kelsang Dorjee was born in the Getse Tsang family on July 23rd, 1967. His father Losel and mother Loyak are from nomads from Kham Derge, East Tibet. As a boy in a nomadic family Kelsang spent much of his early life herding livestock-when he wasn’t playing with his friends. He is very kind-hearted and spiritual by nature and he is a secretary to the Center for the benefit of the destitute and disabled.

Sangye Dorjee is also from East Tibet. He was born on the 2nd of January, 1981 in the village of Kham Rongdak. With his father Tsaglo and his mother Sonam Wangmo, Sangye spent his early years as a typical nomadic boy: he played a lot and when he was not playing he herded livestock. Like many other young Tibetans. As Chinese occupation of Tibet made life difficult, Sangye opted to leave his homeland for education and freedom abroad. In 2002 Sangye made the perilous crossing of the Himalayas (on foot) in order to get to Northern India. After arriving in the town of Dharamsala Sangye attent into the existing Tibetan refugee camp called Sherab Gatsel Ling Sangye stayed in Dharamsala for the next four years formally studying the English and Tibetan languages. As a bonus, Sangye also picked up Hindi and Nepali, both of which he now speaks fluently. Sangye is known for his generous nature. He is of special value to the organization because of his practical down-to-earth approach to problems. Sangye now he is working in our organization and for gratis.

Tashi Detso was born on July 30th, 1973 in the village of Dague Chukmo, Northern Tibet. Tashi is also from a nomadic family and although she is female, like most nomadic girls (and boys) Tashi spent much time in her early years herding livestock (yaks). She also had the additional duties of caring for her parents, both of whom were somewhat older than the norm. Nomadic Tibetan children never go to school because they live in remote regions, far removed from any educational facility. Tashi was no exception. When Tashi was 18, her world seemed to collapse around her as both her parents died in quick succession. But Tashi did not go to pieces--she is made of sterner stuff. Because of the training of her parents and her own nature, Tashi comprehended the law of cause and effect. She held resolutely to this understanding, and was able to survive the emotional, psychological and resources double-barreled assault of fate upon her young existence. Tashi is a very assiduous and honest member of the (APHOO) team. She is a responsible and dependable staffer who is greatly respected by her colleagues.
